About

You are not what happened to you. You are what you choose to become. -Jung

My name is Kate Lombardo and I am a licensed mental health counselor. I graduated in 2016 from Palm Beach Atlantic University with my Master’s in Counselor Education with an emphasis in mental health counseling. I have worked with those from many walks of life and am passionate about providing a safe environment for every person to share their pain. That space is sacred and I consider it a privilege to be trusted with it. I am a Christian and believe in loving and treating others, including my patients, as God would. I see patients from all backgrounds, belief systems, and orientations and believe we all have the power to choose how we want to live. I am a certified trauma therapist and an Accelerated Resolution Therapist (ART). I specialize in trauma work, though; work with any individuals ages 12 and up, couples, and families. I believe that we were created to be in relationship with others and that our story has impacted how we do that. My work with my patients is focused on integrating all parts of your story, good, bad and ugly so that not only you will find wholeness, but to empower you to use your story to grow and transform into who you long to be and were created to be. I am also trained in and provide DBT-informed therapy. This therapy is profoundly effective in treating borderline personality disorder, those who have ongoing emotion dysregulation, and/or anyone who grew up in invalidating environments. I have a heart for working with helpers in our community who may not be getting the help they need. These people include our first responders, our school staff, church staff, and other community workers. Making sure the mental and emotional well beings of these helpers are intact ensures they are able to find meaning in their families and in their vocations. I completed a Clinician Awareness Training provided by the Florida Firefighter Health and Safety Collaborative and work with local fire departments to ensure care is accessible and timely. Finally, as a mom of a child with Type 1 Diabetes, I am pleased to offer a unique counseling perspective to individuals and families as they work on navigating the ever-changing terrain of Type 1. At home, I am a wife and a mom of a seven and five year old who I cherish being with. I live a simple life with my family where I place a large emphasis on being present and doing my own mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical work so I can be fully present with my patients. Exciting update! I recently hired a new clinician who is beginning 10/1. She is an excellent therapist all around and providing the highly sought, evidence-based Gottman therapy to couples. She also works with individuals and anyone looking to put the work in. Please find JoAnn Griffin's bio at this link: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/joann-griffin-mount-dora-fl/242655.
